The Mets will have their recent success tested tonight when they face the red hot Los Angeles Dodgers. Other than the Atlanta Braves and their recent 14-game win streak, the Dodgers are arguably the hottest team in the MLB. The Mets have had some recent success of their own winning 5 of their last 6 games. Recent call up Wilmer Flores has been a great addition to the Mets lineup and is producing runs. He has done a very good job filling in for David Wright who is on the D.L. for a pulled hamstring. Even Ike Davis who was absolutely dreadful in the beginning of the year has been much better since being recalled. His batting average is now over .200 and he is even getting on base at a record clip. This is going to be an interesting test for the Mets facing one of the best teams in the national league. While the Mets are 10 games out of the wild card and it seems a little far-fetched to talk about a possible run, this series will say a lot about where the Mets are headed. Crazier things have happened before in baseball. Two key things I'm looking for in this series are how the Mets pitchers handle Yasiel Puig and who will be the closer for the Mets if they have a lead in the 9th. Latroy Hawkins has worked consecutive days and likely will not be available for a day or two and without Bobby Parnell that could create a possible problem for the Mets. This is a big series for the Mets with an opportunity to make a possible statement in the NL wild card picture.
